Dr. Kevin Shosted's Bio and Credentials
Dr. Shosted began working at LasikPlus in 2008 as a fourth year optometry student extern at LasikPlus of Portland, Oregon. Following his graduation from Pacific University College of Optometry, Dr. Shosted returned home to Utah, and accepted a position with LasikPlus of Salt Lake.
Dr. Shosted has served as an adjunct faculty member for Western University College of Optometry and Pacific University College of Optometry, training fourth year optometry student externs in refractive surgical care much like he began.
Dr. Shosted feels that each member of the Salt Lake LasikPlus vision team plays a very important role in the patient’s experience. Each team member is experienced in the refractive surgery industry and truly cares about each patient’s experience and outcome.
Dr. Shosted’s free time away from work is spent with his four adorable kids and beautiful wife. They love going on walks and traveling together. He has visited many parts of the world including South Africa, Europe, New Zealand, Peru, India and the Galapagos Islands. If you ask Dr. Shosted what he’s doing on his day off it often includes working in the yard. Dr. Shosted had LASIK himself in 2009.

I had my procedure done on the same day as my consultation. I was excited and extremely nervous. They put numbing drops in your eyes, they put the things to hold your eyes open and then maybe more drops? They tell you to look for the red or greed dot I can’t remember which came first. It is really hard to do because your eye naturally wants to dart around and blink because there is water and 6 bright lights that you are looking at. They said there would be pressure. It was more than pressure for me I had some sharp pain in my right eye at this point and I was thinking WTF did I do. I think at this point everything went black but at some point it came back. They did other eye which didn’t have the sharp pain, just the pressure. They moved me to another table. I had to focus again and it was the same issue. Water in your eyes, 6 bright lights and then you have to find and focus on the red or green. My eyes keeps naturally darting and fluttering. They kept saying be still… I didn’t know how because it’s involuntary so I thought I was going to mess up the results. Anyway both parts lasted maybe 10 minutes all together they sat me up and sent me out the door. I could see but my eyes were uncomfortable so the lady at the front helped me schedule an uber. I could see perfectly but it was like I was underwater. After it was all done it felt like a bad case of pink eye. Scratchy, pressure and just annoying. I took some Tylenol a Benadryl and slept. When I work up I did the drops like they said my eyes were sensitive but I could see. The next day they felt like I put contacts in for the first time. Maybe just a very little pressure is how I would describe it. I drove to the follow up less than 24 hours later and they tested my vision I am seeing 20/20. The 10 minutes of discomfort will be worth not having to wear glasses for me. I was never able to wear contacts because my allergies are so bad and I’m always rubbing my eyes. Picture with glasses was 2 weeks before surgery. No glasses was the day after surgery. They said the redness is bruising and will turn yellow/orange before disappearing.
One of the best things I’ve ever done. The staff have all been so incredibly kind, especially those in the room during the procedure.

Truly life-changing!
