With a rich background in military medicine, Dr. Winegar completed his internship and residency, where he excelled as chief resident at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in 2022. His journey into medicine began at Saint Louis University, where he graduated in 2018, following an impressive academic stint at Brigham Young University, where he graduated cum laude with a degree in chemical engineering.
Patients under Dr. Winegar’s care can anticipate the utmost professionalism coupled with a reassuring demeanor, unwavering honesty, and meticulous attention to detail. His passion for refractive surgery ignited during his second year of residency, driving him to master a spectrum of procedures, including corneal refractive surgery (LASIK/PRK), refractive surgery for the treatment of cataracts, ICLs, and vision stabilization with cross-linking. Currently, as the chief of the Warfighter Refractive Eye Surgery Program at Evans Army Community Hospital, Dr. Winegar specializes in anterior segment surgeries such as cataract and glaucoma surgery, alongside refractive surgeries like LASIK, PRK, and ICL surgery.
Beyond his medical prowess, Dr. Winegar’s personal interests encompass a love for the outdoors, indulging in activities like climbing, soccer, and gardening with his family. Fluent in Spanish and Italian, he enjoys communicating with his children in their native languages and delights in crafting projects with them.
