Kenneth Smith, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in LASIK and refractive cataract surgery. In his 20 years of experience performing laser vision correction, Dr. Smith has personally performed over 23,000 LASIK procedures. Originally from Frankfort, Kentucky, Dr. Smith has lived in Louisville, Kentucky for over 25 years with his family. In addition to sports, he enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, and spending time with his wife and children.

Dr. Smith earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from West Virginia College, where he also played basketball. After graduating from the University of Louisville, he went on to earn a medical degree. He completed his internship in general surgery at the University of Louisville before specializing in an ophthalmology residency there due to his deep interest in surgical procedures and achieving the best possible outcomes for his patients. During his training, Dr. Smith was honored to be selected by the faculty to serve as chief resident among his peers.

Dr. Smith began his own practice in 2003 and is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care in cataract and LASIK surgery. Known for both his surgical skill and his ability to forge strong patient relationships based on trust, warmth, and care, Dr. Smith is respected by his patients, colleagues, and his community.

Dr. Smith has had the privilege of winning several accolades for his outstanding work in ophthalmology. He has received the Patients’ Choice Award as one of Kentucky’s favorite doctors and has been named a Top Doctor in Louisville, Kentucky, since 2013. Dr. Smith received the Compassionate Doctors Award from Vitals in 2014 as a token of appreciation for his devoted care to his many patients.
