Dean Ellis, M.D. is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Ellis received his medical degree in ophthalmology from the University of North Carolina. Since 1998, he has performed over 107,000 LASIK procedures making him one of the most experienced LASIK surgeons in the Midwest. This level of experience enables him to customize your LASIK procedure to your unique needs.
Dr. Ellis became a part of the LasikPlus organization in 2006. He has a longstanding interest in eye research and has published journal articles on corneal surgery and computerized corneal mapping. Dr. Ellis is currently a principal investigator in the American-European Congress of Ophthalmology (ACOS) studying the corneal cross-linking procedure for eye disorders such as keratoconus.
He is a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners and a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has also been recognized by the “Guide to America’s Top Ophthalmologists” and has received the Physician’s Recognition Award by the American Medical Association.

Dr. Ellis enjoys the outdoors, traveling, tennis, golf, skiing, and spending time with his family. He also volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, the City Union Mission, and the Village Food Bank. Dr Sean Edelstein was the one who performed the surgery and he was amazing. He talks you through the whole process and you don't feel a thing other than some pressure during the suction portion (which again, he informs you about). Overall, he did a very good job easing the nerves before going in to the surgery room and there's even music playing in the background during the process. The more you trust him, the more relaxing the whole process is. Shout-out to Dr Carrie Gaines who did my pre/post checkups prior to the surgery. She also informed me of the entire process beforehand and told me exactly what I need to do post surgery to help the healing process. Overall was a great experience and worth every penny. I am writing this 3 days post surgery and am already happy with the result and am told they will only get better. (my prescription beforehand was around -10 on both eyes)
