Dr. Andrew Ward is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and recent residency graduate where he trained at Naval Medical Center San Diego and the US Navy Refractive Surgery Center San Diego. He is also currently employed as a US Navy Ophthalmologist and Refractive Surgeon. In his free time, Dr. Ward enjoys spending time his family, as well as traveling, surfing, hiking, snowboarding, and dirt bike riding. He is currently interested in Pre Renaissance European History and behavioral economics.

I had a really good experience here. The surgeon and tech talked me through the whole procedure, which helped me stay calm. My only complaint is that I had to wait for a really long time in the waiting room for the consultation.

LasikPlus was chosen by my vision insurance. Location, staff and experience was great. My pre consultation portion was performed by the receptionists who also condect all the eye tests, before I saw the doctor. Most tests were normal ones, but a few new ones I'd never had. The eye doctor reviewed all the data and talked with me and gave me the heads up. I scheduled my procedure within two weeks. Day of procedure, I had heard they might give some Valium to help with the anxiety. Not at this location. I brought my mom to help get me home, get me to bed after and just help me with my new normal. Got checked in and told about the drops. Sat in the procedure waiting area and watched another lady go through it. I wasn't watching the procedure, but how she responded. She did great and put me at ease. I was in the waiting area maybe 15-20 mins. Met the doctor who talked me through every step and distracted me when it was necessary. The procedure was very strange, not my favorite experience, but quick and painless. 10 mins top for the whole thing. 2 stations and again they are talking you through every step. My vision never went black just dim and blurry. Some parts are just worth not talking about, but must experience. Gave me Tylenol PM and sent me home. My eyes really started to burn on the way home and couldn't keep them open(all very normal). Went straight to bed, slept for 5 hrs and woke up with no burning, some blurriness, but felt just fine. Great recovery. 1 week post prosedure: Vision is 80% clear 90% of the time, moments of more blurriness and halos. If you have ever had contacts with an astigmatism....that is what it feels like. Something in my eye that never settles all day, but has its moments of perfect vision. Had my follow up and the doctor says everything is healing as normal. I got goggles to wear at night. Didnt trust myself with the glasses they give. Pros: - great location at Bridgeport - availability - up to date technology - good LasikPlus resources to help with what to expect Cons: -price is high -they were training someone new, so missed some things and made me uncomfortable at times -not so personable-thanks for coming, see ya later -The doctor performing the procedure is not the same doctor as the consultation -no info given in the payment plan option so delayed checkin. All the cons were not deal breakers, just areas for improvemnt
