LasikPlus Patient Stories

"Four-eyed freckle face...buck teeth boogie face - these were the taunts exchanged by me and my best childhood friend Betty. She got braces when we were 12, but it would be nearly 40 years before I would shed the second pair of eyes perched on my nose since learning I had inherited my mother's myopic gene. How wonderful it would have been to see the beautiful faces of my children as soon as they were born? Instead I saw blobs - on second thought, maybe that was a blessing. How many times over the years had I taped my glasses or super glued the hinges because it was not the year my insurance reimbursed for glasses? I'll never forget the time I woke up with my eyes painfully sealed shut--apparently hard contact lenses were not suitable sleepwear. Blood and eyeballs are two things that really give me the willies, so even though I had thought about LASIK surgery over the years, I did not think I would survive the procedure with my dignity and equilibrium intact. The thought of forfeiting the money I had in my medical spending account spurred me to take the plunge. I had my procedure done at the LasikPlus Center in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. I experienced a very thorough free consultation and examination. The administrative staff assured that I received the maximum benefit from my insurance company and even secured me 0% financing until my medical spending check cleared. There was no hard sell here; I did not feel pressured to make a decision. Within a week I returned for the procedure. My husband was fascinated by the live broadcast of the procedures that were being done one after the other. I would say that it is never too late, and all of your fears and concerns can be overcome and allayed. I take pleasure in the little things like no more hunting for glasses or schlepping contact lens supplies everywhere. I can fall asleep without busting the arm from my glasses or gluing my eyes shut. I can drive with my windows down and no fear of debris becoming painfully lodged between my contact lens and eyeball. I can see what time it is and the caller ID without getting out of bed. I can come in from the cold without fogging up and enjoy a mountain view"

"I have been wearing glasses since 4th grade (1963). In my junior high years when contacts became popular, only the well-off kids had them. I went to work at 16 and saved for my very own contacts. Wow, were those hard things uncomfortable. They were so irritating and I scratched my cornea one day and that was it for those things. So, back to glasses again for me. Wow, there were some really cool frames in the 70's and 80's and I have some really attractive pictures of myself to prove that. Does anyone need a good laugh??? Then came the era of those pricey disposable contacts. Being financially challenged for a couple of years, I'd over wear the nasty, cloudy things and my eyes would be all red and irritated. After enduring that, I gave up and just went back to regular glasses and even got those awesome clip on sunglasses. No, not the clip-on's designed for my specific glasses because they were as expensive as the glasses; I had generic clip-on's I'd find at street fairs and flea markets. Okay, finally came the year 2000. I waited to see if the world was going to end before I decided to get LASIK surgery. Well, the world survived and now I am enjoying freedom from glasses and irritating contacts. It is the best thing I've ever done for myself. I even talked my husband into it as well, and we are both so pleased. I love telling everyone I had LASIK surgery and sharing my experience with them. It was 100% pain free and I walked out seeing like I'd never seen before. The staff and doctors are so friendly and professional. I totally recommend LasikPlus for anyone thinking of LASIK surgery"

"I had my surgery a year ago. I do like the mono-vision and not wearing glasses. I have recommended my friend to have the surgery there. She did do it, and loves it, too."

"My experience at Lasik Plus was great. I was a little nervous on the day of surgery but my fears were quickly resolved. The procedure itself was very quick and I was on my way to seeing bette than before. The staff was really nice and friendly. This is the best thing I could have done for myself. It has only been 7 months since my surgery, but I have had no problems. It is definetly worth it. I am a happy customer."

Michele, Durham, NC Vision Center: Raleigh, NC
"It was a very simple and easy process. The staff made me comfortable and helped greatly. I am an active person who ski's in the winter and bikes and hikes in the summer. It has been so awesome being able to hit the slopes without my glasses fogging up. This was the best money I have ever spent. I had been thinking about it for years, but never really got around to it, now I wish I had done it years ago.thanks so much"

"I can see everything!"

Jon, St. Paul, MN Vision Center: Oakdale, MN
"I've had to wear glasses or contacts since middle school. It's always been annoying for me when playing sports, or going swimming, etc. I decided to have Lasik once I'd begun hearing all of the wonderful things about the surgery, and how maintenance free and risk free it was. When I went in to have it done, just as a test between my wife and me, I took off my glasses and couldn't even see the clock 6 feet across the room. Then, when I walked out of the operating area after having had the surgery, all of a sudden everything was clear, and that quickly! My vision has even continued to get better! It's improved my golf game by seven strokes, which is great! Especially when I play with friends who knew how I used to play. And most importantly, it showed me just how lucky I am. I knew I had a beautiful wife, but seeing her through crisp, clear vision, just reminds me how beautiful she really is."

"I had been dependant on glasses since 4th grade. I didn't even know what it was like to see without glasses or contacts. In my late 30's, I started having trouble with my contacts, and was treated multiple times for abrasions on my eyes. I finally decided to look into LASIK. I spent a few evenings researching eye surgeries on the internet, then made appointments with a few different centers. All the other centers wanted to schedule me right away. LasikPlus was the ONLY center that was interested in treating my existing problem and making sure I had healthy eyes prior to surgery. They saw me several times before the surgery to make sure my abrasions were healed. They even gave me medicine to help them heal faster. The added bonus is this: with LasikPlus, I see 20/20 a year and 1/2 after surgery AND I paid LESS than any other Lasik center had quoted! You can't imagine how incredible it is to see without corrective lenses! To wake up at night and see the clock... go swimming and see what's around you... never worrying about breaking glasses or losing a contact lens... if you have decided on Lasik but haven't decided on a center, TRUST ME and choose LasikPlus. You will NOT be disappointed!!!?"

"It has been several years since my LASIK procedure. So long, in fact, I have almost become accustomed to the miraculous change that happened in my life after the procedure. I remind myself often what it used to be like and how grateful I am for my sight now, and I try not to take it for granted. For me, LASIK was truly life changing. Being near-sighted is a disability?a disability many discount or overlook (individuals, government and insurance companies). They believe glasses or contacts provide the solution, and since they have never awakened to a blurry room or face or had an eye lash rip across their eye while driving, they take no further interest. The lack of concern and sympathy for this disability is amazing. Prior to my procedure, I wore contacts. In fact, I started wearing contacts when I was in sixth grade. Contacts, for me, provided a solution, but not a complete solution. Every (space) day, I would wake to that blurry room and distorted images of my gorgeous wife, then fumble on my nightstand to find my glasses, trying to begin my day. I thought this was normal. It was just something I would always live with. I continued through the process of cleaning and inserting my lenses?cleaning and rinsing, then grabbing drops. And, of course, the cost involved with the many products and chemicals I needed was significant. I dealt with many ?contact wearer? issues: loss and replacement cost, special prescriptions, eye infection, etc. Although I appreciated the improvements of daily wear lenses, I still struggled. I was athletic, so rafting, swimming, running and many other things I enjoyed or needed to do were difficult to say the least and required much more than normal advance preparation. Sweat in one's eyes is painful and irritating! When my LASIK procedure was schedule, I was initially a bit apprehensive, but not only was it painless?it was fast. Then, the next day I could see clearly without lenses. When my vision was checked, I was seeing around 20/15. At forty, I swim faster than I did at twenty, and I jog just about every other day. I love to look at the sky and see the incredible formation of the clouds against the blue sky. If I sweat, I use my sleeve and go on. Wind and rain don't carry the same worries. I lost a contact lens in a storm once?it blew out of my eye. The money I have saved in lenses and supplies over the past few years has paid for my procedure four or five times over. I love and appreciate the opportunities that LASIK afforded me. Compared to the priceless benefits - and my improved quality of life - the cost of the procedure is small"

Darrell, Mechanicsville, VA Vision Center: Richmond, VA
"For years, at least 10, I had been thinking about getting the LASIK procedure done. I was apprehensive because of the fact I only have one set of eyes no matter how bad they were they still worked-with glasses-thick glasses. As I got older contact didn't seem to fit well. So finally in 2006 at my last eye exam I had enough. I needed to get a stronger prescription again. So in March I received a flyer in the mail with zero interest for 1 year and the price fit my budget. I called and got pre-approved the receptionist was very helpful and professional. After all the preliminaries were done I asked if I could have a same day Procedure if I qualified for the surgery (I did not want to talk myself out of it). I did and the Doctor was able to complete the procedure. Afterward the Doctor asked if I wanted to leave my glasses for the Lions group, and he must have thought I was something, because I hugged my glasses to me and wouldn't let him have them. I still did not fully realize that I was free from them after so many years, 43 years to be exact. I went home and followed the directions for the drops and went in the next day with ALL of the glasses I had acquired over the years and put them in the BOX. It took me some weeks to quite the reflex of putting glasses on in the morning and taking them off at night, I even adjusted the glasses that weren't on my face for awhile. It was such a blessing to wake up in the morning and tell my husband what time it was instead of asking him what time is it. I was able to convince a friend of mine who had worn glasses for a long time to get the procedure done. She is a happy customer"
