About Presbyopia & Monovision or Blended Vision at LasikPlus
Presbyopia is a vision problem caused by age that tends to become apparent after 40 and worsens over time. The way presbyopia impairs vision is relatively simple. When no degree of presbyopia is present, the elasticity of the eye’s lens allows it to focus on objects at various distances. The eye’s lens loses its elastic quality over time, making it increasingly difficult to focus on close-up objects for those with presbyopia. If you have to wear reading glasses, you probably have a degree of presbyopia. You can also opt to wear contacts for presbyopia. Presbyopia eventually affects all people as they age.
While there’s no true presbyopia treatment, there are a number of ways to address presbyopia and correct for the impairments it causes. The most common presbyopia treatment is a simple pair of reading glasses. Some people also use contacts for presbyopia in which one eye is corrected to see up close while the other is corrected to see far away.
