About Monovision and LasikPlus’s Blended Vision Solution
You may have heard of monovision as a way to correct the vision impairment caused by aging known as presbyopia. Presbyopia occurs as the lens of the eye loses elasticity, making it hard to focus on objects that are up close and resulting in a need for reading glasses, bifocals or contacts for presbyopia. Monovision compensates for presbyopia by correcting the eyes separately — one for distance and one for viewing objects up-close.
This monovision solution may seem strange, but the brain adjusts quickly, allowing people a full, clear range of vision. In fact, the word “monovision” is a bit of a misnomer; while mono- means “one,” monovision allows both eyes to work in tandem to compensate for prebyopia-related vision impairments as well as other vision impairments in many cases. That’s why, at LasikPlus, we refer to our monovision treatment as our Blended Vision solution.
While some may utilize a monovision approach through contacts for presbyopia (having contacts of prescriptions that compensate for close vision in one eye and distance vision in the other), another, longer lasting approach is monovision LASIK surgery. Monovision LASIK surgery uses laser vision correction to adjust each eye for distance or close-up vision.
At LasikPlus, our Blended Vision solution may be a lasting solution to the hassles of reading glasses. Discover if our monovision LASIK surgery solution — Blended Vision — is the right monovision treatment for you by scheduling your FREE LASIK eye exam today.
