Your Customized Treatment Plan
At LasikPlus, we know that laser vision correction is not a one-size-fits-all solution. In fact, to provide you with the best outcome for your vision, numerous factors must be taken into account to provide you with a LasikPlus Customized Treatment Plan tailored to your prescription, eye anatomy and personal needs. Your plan is comprised of the following components:
-
LASIK or PRK: After evaluating your prescription, corneal thickness and personal and occupational activities, your doctor at LasikPlus will determine which of these laser vision treatments is most appropriate for you. As a general rule, PRK may be a better option for patients with thinner corneas, a history of dry eye or hobbies or occupations that may cause impact to the eye. Every case, however, is unique.
-
Standard or Custom LASIK Surgery: It’s important to note that Custom LASIK surgery is not a more advanced procedure than Standard LASIK surgery, it is simply better suited for some people’s eyes. If you have a very strong prescription, small pupils, or have no higher-order aberrations (small distortions in the eye), Standard LASIK surgery may be the perfect treatment type for you. Custom LASIK surgery uses the detailed map created by the Wavefront scan to address distortions in the eye; it may also be better at preventing glares and halos for people with larger pupils.
-
Distance Vision or Blended Vision: If you have trouble focusing on objects close to you due to age-related presbyopia, your doctor may suggest our Blended Vision solution to provide you with clear vision both up close and far away. Blended Vision is not recommended for patients under 40, as their degree of presbyopia will continue to change over time. Your doctor will evaluate your level of presbyopia and discuss the best course of action with you.
-
Which Laser?: Part of this decision will depend on whether your plan includes Custom or Standard LASIK surgery. Your doctor will evaluate your corneal thickness, prescription and pupil size in choosing the laser that will provide the best vision outcome for you.
