2015 recipient of the Illinois Optometric Association Young Optometrist of the Year Award
Dr. Karina Nikogosian received her doctor of optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry. After practicing in various modes of optometry for three years, Dr. Nikogosian chose to advance her experience in ocular disease by completing a residency at a VA Medical Center. She has a well-rounded optometric experience, which makes her a great asset to our LasikPlus team. While Dr. Nikogosian has worked in several optometric fields, ranging from vision therapy to ocular disease, her main passion is ocular nutrition and specifically how it relates to dry eye symptoms.
Dr. Nikogosian is fluent in Russian and is proficient in Spanish, allowing her to bridge the language gaps that can occur in patient – doctor communication.

Myopia is the medical term for “nearsightedness”. Being nearsighted means you can see near objects well without the use of glasses or contact lenses, but your distance vision is blurry. Myopia affects about one out of every 3 or 4 people.
